3rd July 2005
Surfing: near porthcawl
Wind Direction: SW
Wind Stength: 2-3
Surf / Sea State: onshore driven A-frames
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: not bad
Weather: bright - got a bit burnt!
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Really struggled against relentless waves - quite powerful despite mostly dissolving into 2 foot exploding wave heads. Got about 4 runs, but just cruising into shore with not much other than foam behind

I am not a proficient duck-diver, but my mate is and in an effort to get me out back, tried to take my board and declared it too buoyant and heavy. Really tired myself out and am paying for it now with shoulder pain (wuss I know, but haven't done any swimming at all for nearly a year.

Maybe I need a smaller or at least less buoyant board for days where it is too relentless as it was very frustrating not be able to chill out back, have a chat and pick some waves
